As a former resident of Richmond and employee of the Edgar Allan Poe Museum (and no, I have no connection with anyone in the cast,) I read with great interest your article about the production of Dream. Seems like the fireflies were a bonus!

I was also totally blown away by this production but rather than finding the sound/light design to be distracting I felt it provided a continuum which kept bringing me back to the core turmoil. The high wall of dirty and fouled clothing, I assumed represented clothing found on the eventually recovered bodies of 1000's of the Desaparecidos. It provided the literal and psychological backdrop, always present and reminding us that like so many atrocities wrought by men, Yes it can happen again.

I saw this play last week with my 18year old son(both of us actors). Like the reviewer, I didn`t know exactly what to expect(Even though I HAD auditioned for this play!), with it being touted somewhat as "Shakespeare in 1930s Hollywood". I found it so surreal, seeing and hearing the play acted out as the Bard wrote it, while at the same time seeing it all being filmed. Henley pulled off this perfectly, keeping the audience hooked into the play AND it`s filming! All of the actors were amazing in their roles, and I could tell that the mostly young student audience members were really "getting it"! Wonderful production!
